The desert heat remained oppressive throughout the day, so the young adventurer remained at the base of a tree, near a shady oasis.
The day passed slowly, and dusk arrived. Haishiro would have to hurry, otherwise the city gates of Urbs would close. Her soft shoes sunk as she plodded across the sand.
Suddenly, a high pitched squeal sounded off in the east. Quickly Haishiro unsheathed the sword she was carrying and faced the direction of the noise.
There shouldn't be any monsters around Urbs, she thought. The adventurer paused. The travel guide didn't mention anything about nighttime though.
Not knowing exactly what to expect, Haishiro remained in a defensive posture.
